What you need to become a doctor in Germany

EU Medical degree

With a EU medical degree

If you earned your medical degree in a EU country, then to become a doctor in Germany you must first reach the level of B2 German and then you can begin the Fachsprachprüfung preparation course. Match Talent is here to support you through it all! You can first take our language courses for doctors, and then move onto to our Fachsprachprüfung preparation course. Reach B2 German with Lingoda

The first step to becoming a doctor in Germany is to reach the level of B2 German. We are here to support you by offering Lingoda's German language courses specifically tailored to doctors! You can begin the courses at whichever level you are at and only pay for the levels that you need to reach B2. Once you have reached B2 you then can continue on to take the Fachsprachprüfung preparation course. 

About the medical language course

The preparation course for the Fachsprachprüfung exam focuses on your language skills in order to prove that you have a certain level of German, comparable to C1. All doctors who earned their medical degree outside of Germany must complete the professional language exam.

This course takes place online with native-level teachers who will provide you with specialist medical language training. In addition it includes self-study components to help deepen your knowledge, exam simulations to prepare for the final oral exam and the opportunity to write medical letters in cooperation with qualified doctors. You’ll also have the chance to work on case studies from a wide range of specialist areas.

Kenntnisprüfung

Our medical knowledge prepartion course has been designed with the help of our cooperation partner AMBOSS , we developed a 100% funded course which gives you a great opportunity to prepare extensively for the exam. This course thoroughly prepares you not only to pass the medical knowledge test, but to be prepared as you begin working in the medical field in Germany. If you are not an EU citizen then you must pass this exam in order to receive approbation and work as a doctor in Germany.

This course includes theory based on the AMBOSS curriculum, combined with practical orientation through case studies, digital exchange with doctors and preparation for writing medical reports. It also includes exam simulations to prepare you for the medical knowledge test.

FAQs

How are our courses funded?
These courses can be 100% government-funded through an educational voucher known as a Bildungsgutschein by the Jobcenter/Agentur für Arbeit. If you have a degree in medicine and are a resident of Germany you may be eligible. Otherwise, you can fund the course yourself.
Do I need to be living in Germany?
We can begin to help you as soon as you are planning to move to Germany! You can get in contact with us via our contact form and our expert counsellors will guide you through the necessary steps that you need to take. 
What if I have not yet reached B2 German?
If you are not at a B2 level of German, you cannot yet begin with the medical language preparation course, but you can take our language courses for doctors
Do I need to have a completed medical degree?
In order to take the Fachsprachprüfung preparation course you must have a completed (human) medical degree. However, if you have not reached B2 German yet you can begin taking our language courses for doctors while you complete your studies.
Are these preparation courses available for other medical specialties?
No our Fachsprachprüfung preparation course is only available for medical doctors of human medicine.
